Promoting Peace Through Dialogue

Global Majority will conduct its third annual Promoting Peace Through Dialogue Middle East Session in Jerusalem!  The program consists of a study tour (28-31 July), training seminar on conflict resolution, negotiation and mediation (2-13 August) and public forum (12 August) focusing on Israel-Palestine conflict.

South Africa Session

The University of Johannesburg in Johannesburg, South Africa and Global Majority will host students, professionals and academics from June 15-July 5, 2009 for a three week course exploring Transitional Justice and Human Rights with particular focus on post-apartheid South Africa and current conflicts in southern Africa. The course will be followed by a three day international conference on Transitional Justice.

Chile Practicum

caleta_mehuin-1_sm.jpg The Center for Human Rights Studies at Universidad Central de Chile in Santiago, the Monterey Institute of International Studies and Global Majority will hosted a delegation of students January 5th – 20th 2009 for a seminar-practicum on Chile’s history of democracy and dictatorship, human rights abuse and transitional justice, with particular focus on the role of the judicial system in the process of transition and the ongoing protection of the rights of indigenous and other vulnerable populations. Various topics within these themes will relate to grassroots development, conflict management and environmental policy.

Global Majority partnered with the Naval Postgraduate School to present "On Thin Ice" addressing the economic, scientific, environmental, cultural and security implications of climate change in the Arctic region. The conference took place on December 8-9, 2008 in Monterey, CA.
