The goal for Global Majority is to become the main resource for current events and analysis related to global conflict resolution. It is also a goal to provide objective and accurate reporting by publishing works of high quality online or in print journal.

Dialogue

The premier project of the research and analysis program is the publication of Dialogue, Global Majority’s peer-reviewed journal. It is an online journal with limited print publication that includes not only articles but also art submissions relevant to the mission of Global Majority. The journal strives to incorporate a broad range of civil society in the dialogue for the nonviolent resolution to conflict, to humanize the effects of violent conflict, to link researchers, educators, students, artists, scholars, practitioners, and activists, and to promote education and training in principled, interest-based mediation. The first issue was published in February 2007.

news and the Forum

To achieve our goals we are continually developing the website. Visit and register at our forum for news and discussion on conflict resolution practices. Also, visit our News section for weekly news updates. At times, as Global Majority members witness conflict, they will report to Global Majority their perspective and personal encounters for publication. These “stories from the field” are currently posted on the forum. Some of our International Adivosry Board members' published articles are available on our publications page.

The Global Voice

The Global Voice is a quarterly newspaper of Global Majority. The first release was in spring 2004 with production of twenty copies. We now have a production and distribution of 2,000 copies, a number that grows with each issue we publish. At a fundraiser at our early stages, printing company Central Coast Image pledged to cover the cost of printing the Global Voice as long as Global Majority continues to publish it.

Conflict Profiles

As a resource on nonviolent conflict resolution, Global Majority has developed a Conflict Profile research project. This project will provide a clickable global map of conflicts on our website which presents the reader with the background information and resources for an in-depth research. The background information includes a country or regional profile, a brief history, current situation, peace talks and negotiation processes, and actions taken by the civil society in resolving the conflict. In addition, a brief analysis and description of actors and parties to the conflict is provided, along with those parties’ interests and objectives, possible options and solutions, and objective criteria for recommendations to the current situation. This analysis is based on the interest-based negotiation techniques that are a core part of Global Majority’s educational curriculum in nonviolent conflict resolution. Each of the abovementioned sections offers a short overview followed by a list of online and text references, and in addition a list of other links and references is offered at the end of a report. Global Majority utilizes graduate student interns from Monterey Institute for the research, many of whom come from the countries they report on or concentrate their studies on the topic/region.
